In 2005, Bob and Melanie Arndt, owners of Harvest Organic Bakery, Cafe and Market, formed a new company and through that company purchased Jackson Food Town and methodically began converting the store into a unique neighborhood market that offers the highest quality natural, organic and local products available, as well as a wide selection of typical conventional grocery store goods. As part of this transformation, Bob and Melanie's new company moved several popular local businesses into Jackson Whole Grocer, including Choice Meats, Hole Fish (fresh wild-caught seafood) and Holistic Habitat (which sold natural body care, vitamins, herbs and homeopathic remedies). Also under the new Jackson Whole Grocer umbrella came everything from Harvest, including all its natural and organic grocery items, salad bar, juice bar, smoothies, espresso, sandwiches, deli, herbs, remedies, homeopathics, body care, essential oils and more.

In September 2010, the Rice Family acquired JWG from the Arndt's with the intent of carrying on and improving the stores offerings. The Rice Family is committed to maintaining and developing a store that provides top tier customer service coupled with a product offering that includes delicious, interesting and quality foods that cross all categories of conventional, natural/organic and specialty foods. The Rice's are committed to supporting and continuing to be an integral part of the community. Finally, the Rice's are passionate about offering products that are healthy and sustainable and will consistently endeavor to promote these values.
